BAGAIMANA ICT MEMBANTU DALAM P&P

Information and communication technologies (ICTs)—which include radio and television, as well as newer digital technologies such as computers and the Internet—have been touted as potentially powerful enabling tools for educational change and reform. When used appropriately, different ICTs are said to help expand access to education, strengthen the relevance of education to the increasingly digital workplace, and raise educational quality by, among others, helping make teaching and learning into an engaging, active process connected to real life. Another term that is gaining currency is blended learning. This refers to learning models that combine traditional classroom practice with e-learning solutions.

Learning with the technology means focusing on how the technology can be the means to learning ends across the curriculum. It includes:

  • Presentation, demonstration, and the manipulation of data using productivity tools
  • Use of curriculum-specific applications types such as educational games, drill and practice, simulations, tutorials, virtual laboratories, visualizations and graphical representations of abstract concepts, musical composition, and expert systems
  • Use of information and resources on CD-ROM or online such as encyclopedia, interactive maps and atlases, electronic journals and other references

I have been teaching in SJK (C) Sin Kwang, Sungai Petani since year 2000. It is in year 2004, after I had attended the 6-week English Conversion Course that I started teaching the English Language. To improve my command of English and also increase the interest of the students in learning English, I frequently access the internet to search for relevant materials that could be used in my teaching and learning lessons.

One of my favourite websites which I find very useful for our English lessons, especially for primary schools and to improve proficiency in the language is http://www.agendaweb.org.

This website is created to introduce a broad range of language skills in speaking, reading, writing and listening. The students can:
1.      Learn  New Vocabulary
2.      Practise English Grammar
3.      Play Language Games
4.      Practise All Language Skills

This program integrates the latest technology - animations, games, interactive presentations and activities to inspire and excite students to learn English.

Besides, teachers can project it in the classroom and use it as a tool to deliver the goal (or part of the goal) of a lesson. Teachers can also mix the use of traditional teaching and learning methods with these activities. Therefore, the English lesson is more lively, interactive and interesting.

ICT memang banyak membantu dalam proses P&P.. Tapi apa yang paling penting, guru yang berkenaan hendaklah tahu mengaplikasikannya.

As teachers, we have to ready and prepare ourselves for changes. Using ICT in teaching and learning gave a lot of advantages to teachers and pupils. The lesson conveys by the teacher will attracts pupils' attention due to lot of fun and enjoyment in interactive activities. Besides, it also enhances pupils' motivation in learning.. In spite of this, the article is so informative and interesting..
